Who owns Facebook?

Quick back of the envelope calculations:

Total shares outstanding:

2,513,311,511, $100 Billion valuation = $40 per share

Zuckerberg: 533 million shares: 21.2%, $21.3 Billion

Sandberg: 42 million shares: 1.67%, $1.68 Billion

Jim Breyer: 201 million shares: 8%, $8.04 Billion

Peter Thiel: 44 million shares: 1.75%, $1.76 Billion

DST Global: 131 million shares 5.2%, $5.24 Billion

Dustin Moskovits: 133 million shares (which Zuckerberg permanently votes by proxy): 5.29%, $5.32 Billion

Goldman Sachs: 66 million shares, 2.62%, $2.64 Billion

Still searching for: Sean Parker, Eduardo Saverin and other early insiders.

Mike Schroepfer and Theodore W. Ullyot were allowed to sell roughly $7.5 million each worth of stock to ‘third parties’ in 2011 at $25.07 per share, roughly an $80 billion valuation. No other executive sold shares in 2011. This were presumably conducted via SecondMarket.com type sites.

How much Facebook stock do executives own?

Mark Zuckerberg 120 million options, over 500 million shares in total

Sheryl K. Sandberg 44.021 million shares

David A. Ebersman 11.969 million shares

Mike Schroepfer 9.624 million shares

Theodore W. Ullyot 6.688 million shares

*These are my own calculations based off of a complex table of data in the S-1 and mostly consist of unvested options and stock grants, except in the case of Zuckerberg who has options on 120 million shares that he can exercise at any time for $0.06 per share and over 500 million shares in total.

At a $100 billion IPO valuation this would make Sheryl Sandberg a billionaire along with Zuckerberg, as the 38 million un-vested shares she received upon her hiring will be valued at approximately $30 each.
